Aviones EuroFighter en Albacete

El ministro de Defensa, José Bono, se reunirá hoy en Madrid con sus homólogos de Alemania, Italia y Reino Unido para tratar sobre el programa del avión de combate europeo Eurofighter.

La reunión se celebrará en el Cuartel General del Ejército del Aire y a ella acudirán los titulares de Defensa del Alemania, Peter Struck, de Italia, Antonio Martino, y del Reino Unido, Geoff Hoon.

Al término del encuentro, está previsto que José Bono realice una declaración final sobre los asuntos tratados, entre los que figura de forma principal el programa Eurofighter.

Según los últimos datos facilitados por el Consorcio Europeo, España recibirá a lo largo de este año ocho aviones de combate Eurofigther, que se sumarán a los seis que ya tienen las fuerzas aéreas.

Según el calendario previsto, los aviones de combate europeo, fabricados por España, Italia, Alemania y Reino Unido, se ubicarán en una primera fase en la base sevillana de Morón, a la que llegarán hasta el año 2010 medio centenar de unidades.

En una segunda fase, entre 2010 y 2015, llegarán otras 37 a la base de Los Llanos (Albacete), con lo que se completarán los 87 que le corresponden a España en el reparto hecho por el consorcio europeo en función de su participación en el proyecto.

Los Eurofighter, máquinas capaces en un minuto y 40 segundos de subir casi en vertical hasta 40.000 metros de altura, servirán para sustituir de forma gradual a los actuales Mirage y F-18.
